Your kayak features waterproof compartments designed to protect your gear and serve as extra floatation in case your craft overturns. Personal effects stored in the compartments should always be placed in dry bags for extra floatation in case you lose or break a cover. They add buoyancy to your kayak and prevent it from submerging.
The covers feature a double-walled rubber seal to ensure that compartments remain waterproof. Seals and compartment edges or rims must always be kept clean and grit-free to avoid leaks. |
| To open a compartment, loosen the straps by raising the buckle. You need not remove the straps completely to remove a cover: simply put them aside. There is a third centre strap on the stern compartment with a Fastex buckle. This buckle has to be opened fully to remove the compartment cover. To close a compartment, reinstall the cover and press firmly on its sides as you draw the straps towards you. Warning: ensure that the cord attached to the cover is positioned above the straps. |

A compartment is offered as an option at the bow of the Kasko, Ookpik and Ookpik Duo models. The compartment features a round plastic cover 20 cm (8 in) in diameter and a rubber waterproof seal. To open, raise the handle to the vertical, rotate one-quarter turn and lift the cover. To close, position the side directly opposite the handle in the opening, ensure that the handle is positioned vertically, gently press the cover in to place and rotate the handle one-quarter turn to secure the cover. The hatch cover is attached to the inside of the kayak. |
