Components and Adjustments
Adjusting the sliding pedals on kayaks with rudder
Now that your seat is properly adjusted, adjust the sliding pedal system.
First check that the rudder is positioned in its brace and the blade centered. Settle into your seat, straighten your back and press your knees against the upper deck or thighs against the braces. Pull on each of the straps while applying slight pressure on the pedals. Release the pressure when you feel the pedals resting steadily against the soles of your feet.
If your pedals are too close, raise the buckle to release tension in the straps while applying slight pressure to the footpeg. Then readjust.
Special adjustment for short individuals
To bring the pedals closer, use the second screw on the strap instead of the first. The operation is relatively simple, but you will require an assistant. Draw the pedal towards you and ask your assistant to hold it so that you can more easily gain access to the nut and screw. Loosen the screw and remove the strap (don’t forget to secure the screw in place afterwards). Then loosen the screw nearer the front. Insert the strap and tighten the screw.
